Leaks Google Pixel 8 Pro with New Design

Posted on

AntaraNews, News – A surprise new image of Google Pixel 8 Pro just landed. It didn’t come from a faceless X account, one of the professional leakers, or even a previously unknown blog. This time Google decided to pull the trigger itself.

It took until nearly September for some official Google images to leak for the Pixel 8, but as usual, the company slipped up. An image of the white Pixel 8 Pro was uploaded to the Google Store to advertise Google Fi, and instead of showcasing the Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro, it features a man holding the upcoming, as-yet-unannounced flagship. And lest you think we’re making assumptions, the alt text clearly spells out the words “Pixel 8 Pro.”

A close look at that image shows, well, exactly what we describe throughout this article. It’s a phone that looks mighty similar to its predecessor, which might explain why the photo was used in the first place. We see the new camera bar design, the Pixel Fold-esque porcelain color, and a new thermostat feature discussed later in this guide. But what about the rest of the Pixel 8 series?

New Updated Google Pixel 8 Pro

The updated camera design has been leaked before, but the new Porcelain color is fresh information and continues Google’s commitment to autumnal pastel hues. Elsewhere, the Pixel 8 display is expected to feature a higher refresh rate (up to 120Hz) than last year’s model, with the Pixel 8 Pro rumored to have improved brightness of up to 1600 nits.

This year’s phones have two codenames: Husky and Shiba. Based on leaked display information for both devices, Husky seems to be the Pixel 8 Pro, with a 2822x1344p resolution, while the smaller Pixel 8 — Shiba — sports a 2268x1080p resolution. Both are reduced from the current Pixel 7 models, suggesting some minor — but nonetheless welcome — improvements to Google’s design chops.

The Pixel 8 is smaller than its predecessor, coming in at 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9mm, or 12mm in thickness with the camera array included. That’s down from the Pixel 7’s footprint, which measured 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7 mm. At 6.17″, the screen is just a bit smaller than the 6.3″ panel on the Pixel 7, putting it within spitting distance of Samsung’s smallest Galaxy S23.

Google has also graced the Pro with a flat 6.7″ display, matching the panel on its smaller devices. Allow me to be the first to say it: thank you, Google.
